The IRC Department at KRC Uganda leads research, monitoring and evaluation, documentation, communication, and IT support.

Research

The department’s mandate is to provide leadership on research both from programmatic and supportive processes. The department supports the Food Security, Agribusiness and Environment Conservation (FAGREC) and Governance, Protection & Human Rights units to undertake research with a bearing on programme implementation. This department provides evidence-based information to relevant audiences, supporting advocacy efforts and influencing policy change. The department repackages and disseminates information through various communication channels, including broadcast and print media, videos, insightful stories, illustrations, comics, online platforms, public dialogues, and other citizen engagement platforms

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, & Learning (MEAL)

The MEAL component of KRC-Uganda is housed within the IRC department, which serves as the central coordinating body for all MEAL activities across the organization. This department plays a critical role in tracking program/project performance, collecting and analyzing data, and ensuring that interventions are implemented effectively and efficiently. To strengthen transparency and trust among the different stakeholders including beneficiaries, partners, and donors, the department promotes accountability. Furthermore, it fosters organizational learning by identifying best practices, lessons learned, and areas for improvement, enabling evidence-based decision-making and adaptive program management.

Documentation & Communication

This is a key component under the IRC department at KRC Uganda. It plays a central role in capturing, organizing, and sharing information that highlights the organization’s work and impact. The component enhances visibility and promotes transparency and accountability to stakeholders. It develops and disseminates communication materials such as reports, newsletters, success stories, media articles, and digital content that showcase KRC Uganda’s interventions and achievements.

Information Technology (IT)

The IT component provides critical technical support and digital infrastructure that enable the smooth operation of the organization’s programs and administrative functions. It is responsible for maintaining and securing the organization’s network systems, hardware, and software while ensuring data protection and cybersecurity.
