By Yosia Baluku-Fort Portal International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The International Women’s Day date was moved to March 8 in 1913. … The day aimed to help nations worldwide eliminate discrimination against women. It also focused on helping women gain full and equal participation in global development. This year’s celebrations under the theme “Each for Equal” fell on weekend (sunday) and it was the reason KRC commemorated it on 9th March Monday 2020. It was a colorful event as the KRC female staff turned up with a surprise African wear. Their male counterparts poured lots of praises to them from being intelligent, responsible, caring, organizers, mothers, leaders to mention but a few. As the saying goes behind every successful man there is a woman, KRC Ag.Director Mohammed Ahmed shariff added that alongside every successful man, there is a woman. He further said that women are good companions and implored everyone not to take them as sex objects but rather friends. Bihunirwa Medius the head of FAGRIB implored the KRC team to reflect and think on the women movement and inspiring the young girls to know their worth both in schools and homes. The team was treated to a breakfast organised by the female counter parts.
